The average conversion rate of a landing page is 9.7%. That’s a lot considering that the average conversion rate for online stores is 1% to 2%.
That said, you need to create landing pages. You must utilize them to get more leads and increase your sales.
Fortunately, you don’t have to hire a developer to build high-converting landing pages. All you need is a landing page builder like Unbounce or Clickfunnels.
Unbounce and Clickfunnels are two of the most popular landing page builders. They both provide fantastic features, and you can make use of them whether you’re a beginner or advanced marketing expert.
However, they also differ in some points. If you want to know whether Unbounce or Clickfunnels is better for your business, you’ve come to the right place.
In this review, we’re going to compare both tools in terms of…
- Landing pages
- Templates
- Forms
- Split tests
- Sales funnels
- Analytics
- Custom domain
- Integrations
- Pricing
…and in the end, you’ll know whether Unbounce or Clickfunnels better fits your business requirements.
Let’s dive right in.
Unbounce vs. Clickfunnels: The Main Difference
Before we dive into the comparison between Unbounce and Clickfunnels, it is vital to understand one thing.
Unbounce and Clickfunnels are two different tools.
Unbounce is mainly for building landing pages. Clickfunnels is for creating marketing funnels.
But what is a marketing funnel?
A marketing funnel describes the entire customer journey. It begins at the stage where your customers learn about your business for the first time and ends with the purchasing stage.
You typically build different landing pages depending on the funnel level.
Here is a chart showing a typical marketing funnel:
In terms of Clickfunnels, think of a marketing funnel as a series of pages. This series of pages should guide visitors towards a conversion goal, whether it is an email opt-in or purchase.
Of course, you can also build marketing funnels with Unbounce. You can create different pages and track them with Google Analytics. However, Clickfunnels offers more functionalities for creating marketing funnels.
On the other hand, Unbounce offers more functionalities for landing pages. For example, you can utilize Smart Traffic. This feature improves your conversion rates through artificial intelligence.
Visitors use different devices. They come from diverse locations, have different ages, and work in various jobs.
Smart Traffic learns from past conversion data and sends segmented visitors to the landing page version with the highest conversion potential. All you need is to create different page variants and turn on Smart Traffic.
Compared to a standard A/B test, Smart Traffic is much more efficient because it starts optimizing with about 50 visitors. A/B testing requires periods of random testing before you can confidently apply each learning.

Unbounce vs. Clickfunnels: In-Depth Comparison
Landing Page Builder
You don’t need to hire a developer anymore if you want to build high-converting landing pages. Tools like Unbounce or Clickfunnels make it incredibly easy.
Here are the pros and cons of their drag-and-drop editors and the main differences between them:
Unbounce
Unbounce provides a simple drag-and-drop editor, making it easy to build landing pages without coding. Unlike other builders with snap-together grids and blocks, Unbounce doesn’t set boundaries. You can create a fully personalized landing page with ease.
However, you can also add custom HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. You can also integrate a tracking pixel and access the Unsplash image library.
Here are all the pros and cons of Unbounce’s editor:
Pros:
- Quickly build and publish new landing pages
- It works smoothly (and doesn’t lag)
- Easily create page variants for A/B testing
- Highly customizable
- Awesome looking templates
- Edit HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
Cons:
- It’s sometimes hard to make mobile versions looking the same as desktop versions
- The number of elements within the drag-and-drop builder may disturb you
Clickfunnels
Clickfunnels also provides a drag-and-drop editor. While it is a little bit complicated to find your way around initially, you can set up landing pages in minutes once you are used to it.
Here are all the pros and cons of the Clickfunnels landing page builder:
Pros:
- Easy to use
- It works as it should
- You can easily create page variants for A/B testing
- 100+ templates available
- Add custom HTML, CSS and JavaScript
- Save sections and rows for other landing pages
Cons:
- Limited design capabilities
- Poor user interface
- Designs look outdated
All in all
Unbounce and Clickfunnels both offer great drag-and-drop editors. They are both easy to use, work as they should, and provide free templates.
However, the Unbounce editor is much more powerful. You can create (in my opinion) better landing pages and utilize more customization capabilities. Unbounce also offers a better user interface.
That said, Clickfunnels should work on its user interface and improve the functionality of the drag-and-drop editor.
Templates
You don’t need to build landing pages from scratch. Unbounce and Clickfunnels both offer ready-to-use templates.
Clickfunnels templates for landing pages are not that modern and clean as Unbounce’s. They look a bit outdated. Furthermore, Unbounce optimized their templates for maximum conversions.
On the other hand, Clickfunnels offers templates for all types of marketing funnels (lead funnels, event funnels, and sales funnels).
Long story short, Unbounce’s templates look much better than Clickfunnels’, but Clickfunnels offers templates for marketing funnels.
That said, there’s no winner or loser.
Form Builder
You need to collect email addresses. 90%-95% of visitors leave your site and never come back. If you can gather your visitors’ email addresses, you can send them email campaigns in the future.
On average, $1 invested in email marketing leads to a return of $42. I even recommend not selling your product to cold leads, instead pitching your offer to warm ones.
Unbounce offers a professional form builder. Plus, you can also set up sticky bars and pop-ups. Clickfunnels provides an input field you can integrate on your landing pages and a pop-up functionality. You can not set up sticky bars with Clickfunnels.
Clickfunnels’ design capabilities are minimal. The opt-in forms and pop-ups don’t look as professional as with Unbounce.
Here’s an example from Clickfunnels:
And here’s an example from Unbounce:
If you want to build professional-looking forms, sticky bars, and pop-ups, use Unbounce.
Split Testing
Split testing is uber necessary. Changing an element on your landing page can lead to a massive increase in conversion rates (…and an enormous decrease).
We’ve seen conversion increases of over 70%, just by switching a client’s landing page over to Unbounce. We’re also able to test and iterate more rapidly, which is a win for everyone.
– Nicholas Scalice, Founder of Earnworthy
That said, you need to implement split testing into your marketing.
Unbounce provides A/B testing features on all of its plans (except the Launch Plan), allowing you to optimize your landing pages and pop-ups for maximum conversions. Also, with Clickfunnels, you can A/B test every landing page within your funnel.
What’s excellent about Clickfunnels is that you test different versions of buttons, headlines, and images without creating a new page. Aside from that, Unbounce and Clickfunnels don’t enormously differ in terms of split-testing.
However, Unbounce offers Smart Traffic, which helps you improve your conversion rates with AI-optimization.
Compared to a typical A/B Test, Smart Traffic works much more efficiently since it starts optimizing your conversions with about 50 visitors. A/B testing requires periods of random testing before you can confidently apply each learning.
This feature sets Unbounce apart from Clickfunnels in terms of conversion optimization.
Sales Funnels
A sales funnel models each stage of the customer journey. There are lots of different definitions of a sales funnel. However, all sales funnels follow the same principle:
- Awareness: Prospects discover your company and visit your website for the first time.
- Engagement: Website audiences continue to visit your website to engage with your content.
- Consideration: Prospects evaluate your brand and product to determine fit and need potential.
- Conversion: Prospects decide to do business with your brand for the first time.
In terms of sales funnels, Clickfunnels performs much better than Unbounce. You can set up lead funnels, event funnels, or create a custom funnel. What is also great is that you can use plenty of templates to create your funnel.
With Unbounce, you can’t build funnels. You can only create landing pages, but there’s no feature to map pages to a funnel visually. From a functional perspective, this doesn’t matter. However, it is much more comfortable with Clickfunnels.
If you’re looking for an all-in-one solution for marketing funnels, Clickfunnels is the better solution.
Analytics
Unbounce provides insights into how your landing pages are performing and how your A/B tests are going. You can access all of this data in the Unbounce dashboard. Some stats you can check with Unbounce include:
- Pageviews
- Opt-ins
- Conversion
However, you can access much more data by integrating Unbounce with Google Analytics. Here’s a guide on how to do that. All you need to do is to enter the Google Analytics tracking Id into the Unbounce Script Manager. You can access the Script Manager within the Unbounce settings.
Setting up Google Analytics enables you to precisely track user action, like button clicks or other conversions. There’s a wide array of conversion events you can set up within Analytics.
With Clickfunnels, you can check funnel stats and see Pageviews, opt-ins, sales, and earnings/pageview. Just like with Unbounce, you can also set up Google Analytics and, therefore, precisely track user actions.
All in all, Unbounce and Clickfunnels only provide basic reporting features, which is – in my opinion – a little bit unsatisfactory. If you want deep insights into user behavior, you have to set up Google Analytics.
Integrations
Integrations are essential, especially for landing page builders. Fortunately, Unbounce and Clickfunnels both offer a variety of integrations.
Generally, there are four different types of integrations:
- Direct integrations
- Zapier integrations
- Integrations that work via code injection
- Webhooks
Direct integrations connect web services directly. Zapier is a platform that links different web services. If you don’t know Zapier, you should check it out here. Integrations via Code Injection work via JavaScript. Webhooks are a bit more complicated. I recommend reading this article to learn more about webhooks.
Here’s a rough overview of how much integrations Unbounce and Clickfunnels offer:
Unbounce:
- 21 In-App Integrations
- 42 Zapier Integrations
- 48 Integrations that work via Code Injection
Clickfunnels:
- 27 In-App Integrations
- 41 Zapier Integrations
However, I highly recommend checking out all Unbounce integrations here and all Clickfunnels integrations here.
In the end, you need to know which integrations you need and which not. No matter which tool you go for, make sure you can integrate it with your existing marketing tools.
Custom Domain
You need to host your landing pages on a custom domain. Using a generic domain like unbouncepages.com harms Google Indexing and Google Ads compatibility.
But that’s not the worst thing. Generic domains hurt user experience and, therefore, your brand.
Just imagine – what do you think about a company that hosts its landing pages on a generic domain like unbouncepages.com/landingpage1/? I guess this seems weird to you, and you won’t be willing to buy something from such a company.
Fortunately, you can connect your custom domain with both, Unbounce and Clickfunnels. However, Clickfunnels goes one step further here. You can directly purchase a custom domain from Clickfunnels. With Unbounce, you need to buy your domain from another provider and then connect it to Unbounce.
Pricing
Unbounce has pricing based on monthly visitors and the number of conversions.
Here are all their plans:
- Launch – $80 per month – up to 500 conversions and 20.000 visitors – 1 connected domain
- Optimize – $120 per month – up to 1000 conversions and 30.000 visitors – 3 connected domain
- Accelerate – $200 per month – up to 2000 conversions and 40.000 visitors – 7 connected domain
- Scale – $300 per month – up to 3000 conversions and 50.000 visitors – 15 connected domain
Clickfunnels, on the other hand, offers three different plans:
- Clickfunnels – $97 per month
- Clickfunnels Platinum – $297 per month
- Two Comma Club X – $2497 per month
With the cheapest Clickfunnels plan, you can only create 20 funnels and 100 Landing Pages. With the Platinum Plan, you can build as many funnels and landing pages as you want and connect with more payment providers. Apart from that, you can get more training material.
That said, I think Unbounce and Clickfunnels are both a little bit too expensive when you consider that you can “only” build landing pages with them. Accordingly, I believe there isn’t a clear winner for this category since both tools could be more affordable.
Customer Reviews
I searched all the reviews on G2 and picked out the most important ones, in my opinion. So you can understand what the pros and cons of Unbounce and Clickfunnels are. Let’s start with Unbounce.
As already mentioned, a big con is the pricing structure…
…and it’s obviously sometimes hard for people to make the mobile version look good…
However, most people feel that the drag-and-drop builder is easy to use and not limited like with other tools…
…and most people also like their templates…
What about Clickfunnels?
Some people neglect that it’s hard to build a fully personalized page with Clickfunnels…
…and they also don’t like the pricing structure…
However, what most people found useful is that the drag-and-drop editor is easy to use…
.. and that Clickfunnels provides excellent training material…
Conclusion
Finally, which tools should you choose? I could say that this question isn’t easy to answer, but actually, it is.
Both Unbounce and Clickfunnels are high-quality products. It depends on your specific situation which tool you should use.
In some cases, Unbounce would be a better fit, and in some others, Clickfunnels would be better.
You should use Unbounce if you…
- …don’t need to create marketing funnels.
- …want modern-looking Landing Pages.
- …want to use sticky bars, forms, and pop-ups.
- …need fast landing pages.
- …want to make use of Smart Traffic.
You should use Clickfunnels if you…
- …want to create marketing funnels.
- …want to make use of an in-built email marketing tool.
- … like to access highly professional training material.
Broken down, if you want to create Landing Pages, use Unbounce; if you’re going to build marketing funnels, use Clickfunnels.
However, if you would force me to go for one tool, I would go for Unbounce simply because I like their modern templates and their Smart Traffic feature.
