Sellfy Pros and Cons

Sellfy Pros

Ease of Use

Sellfy is extremely easy to use. All you have to do is to sign up and you can customize your storefront.

Sellfy storefront

When you sign up for the first time, you will be guided through an onboarding process that shows you how to build and manage your online store.

You can change the color, background, and fonts – and your changes will automatically apply to all pages of your online store.

Sellfy’s online store is fully responsive – you don’t have to create mobile versions of your pages – Sellfy automatically creates them for you.

Setting up a product is also super easy. All you have to do is add a title, upload an image, and write a compelling product description. Then, you can easily set up Paypal or Stripe to allow credit card transactions.

Sellfy is one of the easiest solutions for bloggers and influencers whose main business isn’t ecommerce but want to sell products to their audience.

Sellfy offers a free 14-day trial without credit card.

Ecommerce

You can build your entire online store with Sellfy (and connect your own domain), but you can also add a Sellfy store to an existing website.

Sellfy doesn’t limit the number of products you can list in your online store, but they limit the annual sales volume.

With the Starter Plan for $19 per month (annual billing), you can only make up to $10k in sales per year. With the Business Plan for $39 per month (annual billing), you can make up to $50k in sales per year, and with the Premium Plan for $89 per month (annual billing), you can make up to $200k in sales per year.

If you exceed these limits, Sellfy charges you a 2% fee on the additional revenue.

Sellfy allows you to sell all types of digital products without an overall storage limit. However, they recommend that unique files shouldn’t be larger than 5GB.

You can manage your Sellfy store by creating product categories and sorting products according to specific characteristics.

You can set fixed prices for your products, set a “pay what you want” price, or offer free products.

There are no additional fees from Sellfy for third-party payment providers.

Sell physical products, digital products, and subscriptions

The great thing about Sellfy is that you can sell EVERYTHING. You can sell physical products, digital products, services, and subscriptions.

For this reason, Sellfy is the best solution for bloggers and influencers who want to sell their products online.

For example, you can sell ebooks, videos, audios, music, and many other types of digital files. You can also offer videos-on-demand and therefore reduce the risk of piracy and eliminate download issues.

On the other hand, if you’re an influencer and want to sell t-shirts, you can also do this with Sellfy.

It’s the best ecommerce solution for bloggers and influencers.

Embed everywhere

You can embed buttons, products, or your entire online store everywhere – for example, on your social media page or website. You can even embed your online store within a YouTube video.

Once again, Sellfy is the best ecommerce platform for bloggers and influencers.

Email Marketing

Sellfy provides an inbuilt email marketing tool. You can easily collect new subscribers and send product updates to existing customers and subscribers.

Depending on the size of your audience, you can save a lot of money by using Sellfy as an email marketing tool.

Discount codes & upsells

With Sellfy, you can easily set up popups and show customers your discounts. You can also utilize upselling features.

Analytics

Sellfy provides a comprehensive analytics tool that shows you the website visits, purchases, conversions, and revenue. You can also analyze traffic channels and your visitor’s top locations.

Integrations

Sellfy provides integrations to Zapier, Vimeo, Soundcloud, Facebook Messenger, and so on.

With Zapier, you can connect your Sellfy store with more than 2.000 apps and automate workflows.

Security

Sellfy is PCI-DSS-ready. Your customers can pay via safe payment processors like PayPal or Stripe.

You can automatically add a customer’s email address to every page of a PDF file so that each customer gets a uniquely marked file. Furthermore, you can prevent buyers from sharing your files online by issuing unique download links with limited download attempts.

Sellfy Cons

Only two payment processors

Although PayPal and Stripe are two of the best payment processors, other solutions like Ecwid offer many more options (70+).

200k in annual sales volume with the highest plan

What I personally found a big disadvantage of Sellfy is that they limit your annual sales volume to $200k with the highest plan. If you exceed this limit, you’ve to pay a 2% fee on the exceeding amount.

Restricted website customization capabilities

Sellfy’s templates are modern and you can also customize them. However, the customization capabilities are limited.

Conclusion

I’ll get straight to the point – you can use Sellfy for small online stores – it’s the best solution if you sell digital products, services, or subscriptions.

If you want to build a large ecommerce business, don’t use Sellfy. Other ecommerce platforms are better suited to do so.

Sellfy offers a free 14-day trial without credit card.
