Contents

If you want to build high converting sales funnels and landing pages, I can almost guarantee that you came across this name:

Clickfunnels.

Clickfunnels is one of the most popular funnel and landing page builders for everybody who wants to grow their business online.

Clickfunnel’s founder Russel Brunson himself declared that the tool will change the lives of most entrepreneurs out there.

But – is Clickfunnels really such an awesome tool?

Or is it a waste of money?

If you want to know whether Clickfunnels gets the job done, you’ve come to the right place. In this Clickfunnels review, we’ll show you exactly what you can do with the tool + all the pros and cons.

Let’s get started.

What is Clickfunnels?

Clickfunnels is a sales funnel builder for everyone who wants to collect more leads and make more sales online.

There are mainly two things you can do with Clickfunnels:

  • Build a sales funnel
  • Create landing pages for your sales funnel

On top of that, Clickfunnels offers many more functionalities. You can collect email addresses, send retargeting emails, manage your affiliate program, and much more. We’ll dive into the functionalities of Clickfunnels later.

First of all, it’s important to understand that Clickfunnels is a tool to create sales funnels and landing pages – it’s not a tool to create a website or to run a blog.

How Much is Clickfunnels?

Clickfunnels is not the cheapest solution.

However, most landing page builders only offer a drag-and-drop builder and some basic features like pop-ups. Clickfunnels provides you with a sales funnel builder, an email marketing tool, an affiliate management program, and many more advanced functionalities.

That being said, Clickfunnels comes with three paid plans:

  • Clickfunnels – $97 per month
  • Clickfunnels Platinum – $297 per month
  • Two Comma Club X – $2497 per month

The Basic Plan comes with all the features you need to create sales funnels and landing pages. However, you can only create 20 funnels and 100 pages. You also can’t utilize highly targeted follow-up emails, which may be an important feature to increase your customer lifetime value.

With the Platinum Plan, you can create unlimited sales funnels and as many landing pages as you want. You’ll also be able to utilize highly targeted follow-up email funnels. Plus, you can connect more payment providers with Clickfunnels.

Apart from that, the difference between the Basic Plan and the Platinum Plan mainly lies in the scope of the help and support you can get.

I highly recommend checking out all ClickFunnels plans here.

Clickfunnels Features

Clickfunnel’s purpose is to guide visitors through a funnel and finally turn them into subscribers or customers. It’s not to generate leads or sales through a blog.

If you’re using this approach, you can run your entire online business with Clickfunnels.

Here are all the main features:

  • Sales funnels: Easily build sales funnels to turn visitors into customers. You can also send out highly targeted follow-up email funnels.
  • Landing pages: Funnels consist of landing pages. With the Basic Plan, you can create up to 100 landing pages for each funnel. With the Platinum Plan, you can create unlimited landing pages.
  • Code CSS: You can edit the CSS code of your landing pages.

  • Membership sites: You can easily create a membership site where customers can access all your material – super useful!

In-Depth Clickfunnels Review

Clickfunnels Landing Page Builder

Every funnel is only as effective as its landing pages. It takes a while to get used to the Clickfunnels landing page builder, but once you’ve become comfortable with it, it will be easy for you to create customized pages.

Each page consists of sections while you can edit the rows and columns of each section. You can also edit text and all elements directly on the page. It’s especially useful that you can save templates and use them for other landing pages, so you don’t have to create the same designs again and again.

However, note that the Clickfunnels landing page builder has limited customization capabilities. You can’t create a 100% personalized page like with Instapage.

Apart from that, there’s nothing really wrong with it.

Clickfunnels Funnel Builder

Clickfunnels offers two ways to build a funnel:

  • Cookbook
  • Classic funnel builder

Let’s take a look at these two ways in detail.

Cookbook

The cookbook allows you to choose between different funnels sorted by industry:

Clickfunnels Cookbook

Clickfunnels provides funnels for:

  • Services
  • Ecommerce
  • Network marketing
  • B2B
  • Author/Speaker/Coach/Consultant
  • Retail
  • Other

Furthermore, you can choose between the following types of funnels (we explain these types below):

  • Lead funnel
  • Sales funnel
  • Event funnel

The Cookbook was designed to guide you through all the elements, pages, and funnels for different situations and help you create funnels faster and better.

What is a Lead Funnel?

A lead funnel is a funnel to collect leads. Basically, there are two ways to achieve this: You can collect the email address of visitors, or capture more lead data like address, telephone number, and so on.

If you only want to collect email addresses, your funnel should consist of a squeeze page and a thank you page. The squeeze page is actually the page where you ask for the email address.

  1. Squeeze page
  2. Thank you page

If you want to capture more lead data, you’ll have to extend your funnel. Typically, you set up a reverse squeeze page to show visitors the value of your product. Then, you forward them to a squeeze page where you collect the email address (you can retarget them if they break up here) and finally send them to an application page where they enter more information. The funnel ends with a thank you page.

  1. Reverse Squeeze page
  2. Squeeze page
  3. Application page
  4. Thank you page

Of course, the main purpose of collecting leads is to retarget them later.

What is a Sales Funnel?

Sales Funnels sell your product. They typically consist of four pages, but you can use more or less.

The most common strategy is to promote the value of your product and then forward visitors to the sales page. After the checkout, you send them to the first upsell (you can also offer a second upsell).

  • Squeeze page
  • Sales page
  • Checkout
  • First upsell
  • Second upsell

What is an Event Funnel?

Hosting a virtual event is a great opportunity to promote your business and collect more leads.

Typically, you send visitors to a signup page where they can sign up for your event. Then, you redirect them to a second page, where they can choose a date to attend the event.

Next, you send 2-3 emails to keep them motivated.

Finally, you send an email to the people who registered but did not attend the event, giving them a link to a recording.

  1. Squeeze page
  2. Confirmation page
  3. Email series
  4. Virtual event
  5. Follow up email

Classic Funnel Builder

If you’re going for the classic funnel builder, you can choose between:

  • Collect emails
  • Sell your product
  • Host a webinar
  • Create a custom funnel

Then, give your funnel a name:

From this point on, you’ve to build your funnel from scratch.

Membership Sites

You can create membership sites and give your customers access to all your course materials.

Another opportunity is to send your customers an email sequence with new course content.

Forms

Of course, it’s possible to create user-friendly order forms, but Clickfunnels goes one step further. You can also create two-step order forms. With two-step order forms, you can collect the email address on the first page and the checkout occurs on the second page.

Two-step order forms have the advantage that you can retarget users who abandoned their cart.

You can also utilize “Instant Order Bumps” to make money from impulse purchases.

Manage Your Affiliate Program

If you’re in the Platinum Plan, you can manage your affiliate program with Clickfunnels.

You can create affiliate links, provide your affiliates with promotion material, and do payouts.

Retarget Leads

There are two different ways to retarget leads with Clickfunnels.

a) You can set up an autoresponder for people who signed up or made a purchase

b) You can use Actionetics to segment your subscribers and send laser-targeted email follow-ups

You can make use of Option a) with all Clickfunnels plans. Option b) is only available with the Platinum Plan.

Actionetics is Clickfunnels inbuilt email marketing tool. It provides detailed segmentation features. For example, you can retarget people who…

  • …wanted to make a purchase but abandoned their cart.
  • …buy all your products.
  • …check out all your freebies but never buy something.
  • …have a defined number of Facebook followers.

There are so many opportunities with Actionetics to segment your list!

Split Testing

Your page, buttons, forms, and other call-to-actions determine your conversion rate. Another version of your sales page could easily double or triple your revenue. It’s therefore uber important to run split tests.

With Clickfunnels, you can test all the main elements of your pages:

  • Images
  • Copy
  • Headlines
  • Buttons

The benefit is that you can run tests without creating alternative versions of your site. (Like with Instapage)

Customer Support

Clickfunnels has a solid customer support team. It’s not industry-leading, but they get their job done.

They don’t offer 24/7 support and sometimes it takes hours for them to respond, but they can normally help you out.

Conclusion

Clickfunnels is a great tool to build sales funnels and landing pages. It comes packed with a ton of great features.

It’s also super useful that they provide courses and training to help you achieve your goals with the software.

The main downside is the price – $97 per month for the cheapest plan could be too expensive for absolute beginners.

Also, their drag-and-drop builder isn’t 100% user friendly.

Furthermore, the variety of features may be overwhelming for beginners.

I, therefore, recommend Clickfunnels for advanced marketers who can utilize all the features Clickfunnels provide.
